FRAMINGHAM – An emergency City Council meeting is scheduled for tonight at 7. An emergency meeting is one in which the agenda is not posted 48 hours in advance, according to the state’s open meeting law.
“Due to an illness, the City Clerk will need to ask the Council to meet tonight, with the Mayor present, to appoint a temporary Registrar of Voters” for Tuesday’s recount in the District 3 City Council race.
“Due to an illness, the City Clerk’s Registrar will not be able to attend tomorrow’s Recount. Therefore, she would like to meet tonight at 7 pm and have an alternate appointed,” wrote the City Council administrator to the 11-member City Council this afternoon.
At the time of this publishing, it is unknown who is ill and who the Mayor plans to nominate for the registrar position.
The four Framingham Registrar of Voters are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the City Council.
The current 4 Registrars are:

The meeting will run as fully remote access only, according to the City Council.
A recount of the ballot for District 3 City Council has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 16.
City Council Vice Chair Adam Steiner won a very narrow victory over SIFOC Vice Chair Mary Kate Feeney on election day, Tuesday, November 2.
Steiner received 997 votes and Feeney 995 votes, a 2-vote difference, per the unofficial results.
Feeney filed for a recount and the City Clerk announced later Friday that it has been scheduled for 9 a.m. in Nevins Hall at on Tuesday, November 16.
“Board of Registrars have timely received petitions for the District 3 City Council race for precinct 4 and precinct 7 voted on at the city election held on November 2, 2021. The Board of Registrars have certified that the petitions for precincts 4 and 7 contain a sufficient number of
signatures of voters and therefore have scheduled a recount,” wrote the City Clerk Lisa Ferguson to both Feeney and Steiner on Friday evening, November 12.
