Opt-in for Emergency Alerts
Oregon is in the midst of an unprecedented fire emergency. As thousands of acres of fire burns throughout the state, many people have already lost homes and businesses and many more are facing evacuation.
During a press conference Thursday, state officials told Oregonians to opt-in to emergency text alerts to get important and sometimes life-saving information quickly.

Here’s how you opt-in to make sure you will receive those alerts if you have an iPhone and some Android phones. If you have an Android phone and this method doesn’t work, you should be able to find directions for your specific phone online.
1. Navigate to “Settings” on your phone.

2. In “Settings,” scroll to “Notifications.”

3. Scroll to the very bottom of “Notifications” to “Government Alerts.”
