The Estes Park Health Urgent Care department will reopen on Thursday, November 12, 2020, at the Urgent Care Center at 420 Steamer Drive. Urgent Care has been closed since October 22 when all of Estes Park was evacuated by mandatory order due to the approaching wildfires on that day. The Urgent Care will have reduced hours for the foreseeable future: We will be open Thursdays through Mondays from 11 AM to 7 PM each of those five days a week.
During weekday hours (Monday – Friday) when the Urgent Care is not open, there are options in our EPH Physician Clinic for care without appointments, primarily through our “doctor of the day” options. Also, of course, our Emergency Department is open 24/7 for emergent needs.
Like other healthcare organizations across our country, Estes Park Health has had significantly reduced revenues since the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic. These reduced revenues are expected to continue into the foreseeable future. Without significant expense reduction efforts, Estes Park Health is projected to lose $7.9 million in 2021. The Urgent Care reduction of hours and staff contributes significant savings against that loss.
Estes Park Health has explored many options (and instituted many of these) to reduce expenses, including salary reductions for all employees, freezing vacation accumulation, eliminating contract labor, renegotiating contracts, and department-by-department cost reductions, among other actions. With the many steps EPH is taking in 2020, including the November 9 reduction in force and other changes, EPH continues to work very hard to ensure that the medical center can continue to provide core services in 2021 and beyond to our Estes community and visitors.
