MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont Gov. Phil Scott Thursday afternoon extended the state’s COVID State of Emergency for another month, until November 15.

It’s the seventh time the order has been extended since the pandemic emerged in March in the U.S. Scott says the state cannot become complacent with the success it has.

The order allows the state to continue expanding eligibility for unemployment insurance, resources for businesses, and programs to help those in need, like meal delivery systems and housing.

Vermont continues to lead the country in low COVID infection rates as the Northeast region is seeing an increase in cases.

As of Thursday, Vermont health officials reported a total of 1,903 coronavirus cases with 14 new cases reported in the last day spread throughout the state.
