Thank you to Col. Kirsten Aguilar for declaring a public health emergency and issuing COVID-19 restrictions for Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. These include always masking around others (with few exceptions), limiting informal gatherings to two family units, limiting most in-person business gatherings to 10 with virtual meetings recommended and using curbside pick-up or take-out for food.
I will voluntarily follow these guidelines in the absence of any mandates from our Anchorage mayor. If we all choose to adhere to the JBER guidelines for the next 30 days, we can effect major positive impact to our COVID-19 crisis. Do this, despite its inconvenience, to support our medical teams who are pleading for folks to get vaccinated and to follow COVID-19 mitigation measures. Let’s show respect and support for the medical professionals who are carrying an extraordinary burden for all of us, and for our military neighbors who defend us.
