CANDOR, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Candor Emergency Squad is holding a public meeting next week about its ambulance service.
The non-profit service has provided emergency medical care to Candor and surrounding areas for nearly 60 years. Up until last year, all EMTs and drivers were volunteers. A shortage of personnel and a large number of calls forced the group to hire paid staff, putting them in a big financial bind.
The public meeting, scheduled for January 14th at the Candor High School Auditorium, will educate the public on the need to continue the ambulance service. If there’s no financial help, the Candor Emergency Squad might no longer be in business by the end of summer.
