Maryellen Keegan became the new Director of Emergency Services for the Monroe County Office of Emergency Management on Jan. 1, with a yearly salary of $71,481.
She replaces former Director Bruce Henry, who retired after 19 years of serving in the Office of Emergency Management.
Keegan is not new to the area and is very familiar with the position she now holds.
She previously served as Deputy Director of the Monroe County Office of Emergency Management for three years, from October 2014 to September 2017, and was emergency preparedness planner for Monroe County Emergency Management for a little over five years, August 2009 to October 2014.
Most recently, Keegan served with the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development as Emergency Preparedness Coordinator in the greater New York City area.
In other business
The Monroe County commissioners acted on the following:
• A motion was made to approve the Sheriff’s Office request to pay overtime for 39.25 hours for security detail.
• The following purchase of service agreements for the period of July 1, 2020, to June 30, 2021, were approved: Perseus House Inc., $200,000 contract limit; BI Incorporated, $10,000 contract limit; Affinity Forensic Services, $50,000 contract limit; County of Chester, $500,000 contract limit.
• The Budget Adjustment Report of Jan. 4 totaling $37,800 was ratified and the Budget Adjustment Report dated Jan. 12 totaling $335,802 was approved.
• A public workshop is scheduled at 10 a.m. (time subject to change) every Monday, with the exception of any Monday holidays listed in the schedule. Additional dates for the workshops are: Feb. 16, July 6, Sept. 7 and Oct. 12.
Workshops and meetings are held in the Commissioners’ Office, Room 201 Monroe County Administration Center, One Quaker Plaza, Stroudsburg.
The next regular meeting is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Feb. 3.
