Kauaʻi drops tier system in latest emergency proclamation - Hawaiipublicradio

Kauaʻi Mayor Derek Kawakami has issued a new emergency proclamation that repeals the county’s pandemic tier system.

Gov. David Ige signed the latest emergency rule Wednesday. The tier system has been in place since Emergency Rule 19 was issued a year ago.

Most of Kauaʻi’s COVID-related restrictions remain in place.

The rules for professionally organized events remain the same, with a maximum of 40 attendees allowed indoors and 100 outdoors.

Larger events can be held, but organizers must ensure proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID test for attendees.

Individuals who violate the state’s safety rules — such as mask-wearing — can be subject to a $250 fine. Businesses and organizers are subject to a $500 fine.
