Tuukka Rask, the former long-time Bruins netminder, practiced with his former team as an emergency goaltender at practice on Monday morning.
Rask, who had hip surgery this past offseason, took part in pre-practice sessions with Bruins goalie coach Bob Essensa last week, but today marked the first time this season that he participated in a full practice session. He filled in for Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark, who wasn't on the ice at practice because of a non-COVID illness.
A handful of other Bruins, including Patrice Bergeron, Matt Grzelcyk, Charlie Coyle, Tomas Nosek and Charlie McAvoy were also absent from practice according to The Athletic's Fluto Shinzawa.
The 34-year-old Finnish netminder remains without a contract after his previous deal with the Bruins expired after last season.
In 560 career NHL games, all with the Bruins, Rask has a record of 306-163-66. He won a Vezina Trophy in 2013-14, was named an All-Star twice, and won the William M. Jennings Trophy alongside former teammate Jaroslav Halak in 2019-20.
