LYNDHURST, Ohio -- Weapons offense: Mayfield Road

At 3:15 p.m. Dec. 13, staff at Family Urgent Care Center, 5195 Mayfield Road, reported that a man and woman were in a pickup truck in the business’s lot involved in an argument. Both got out of the truck and then the man fired a gunshot into the air.

The woman walked from the scene and the man drove away in the truck. The truck was not found, nor was the woman. A shell a casing was detected on the scene. The couple did not have business at the urgent care center, so personnel there were unable to identify them.

Theft: Richmond Road

At 3:35 a.m. Dec. 14, a representative of CVS/Pharmacy, 1443 Richmond Road, reported that a man and woman were in the store shoplifting. Police arrived while the suspects were still in the store.

The male suspect initially refused to identify himself. The couple arrived at the store in a car. Police checked the car and found a man asleep in the back seat.

It was discovered that the male suspect, like the woman, a 37-year-old Cleveland resident, was wanted on a Strongsville police warrant. Strongsville police were unable to pick up the suspect.

The merchandise stolen totaled $148.93. The man was cited for theft and drug paraphernalia possession. The woman was also cited for theft. Both suspects were issued trespass warnings and released.

OVI: Willshire Road

At 8:40 p.m. Dec. 11, police investigated after a car was driven into a tree. It was discovered that the driver, an Akron man, 38, was intoxicated. The man was uncooperative with officers.

Police charged the man with OVI, refusal to take breath test with a prior OVI conviction on his record, driving under suspension, failure to maintain reasonable control, and disorderly conduct.

Aggravated robbery: Cedar Road

At 7 p.m. Dec. 4, police were called to Legacy Village where a man, reportedly in his early 20s, walked up to a Canfield, Ohio man, 57, who was sitting in his car, and threatened to shoot him during a robbery attempt. Police searched the area, but were unable to find the suspect.

The suspect ran without actually robbing the man.

Fraud: Bremerton Road

At 12:15 p.m. Dec. 11, a Lyndhurst woman, 70, went to the police station lobby to report that someone had used her personal information to apply for a $14,800 loan. Police are investigating.

Fraud: Hanley Road

At 12:30 p.m. Dec. 8, a Lyndhurst woman, 59, reported that she was the victim of a scam that cost her $200.

The woman was contacted by someone claiming to be an Amazon representative. The caller said that there was suspicious activity on the woman’s account and that he needed her log-in information and PIN in order to issue her a refund. The woman gave the man the information.

Theft: Richmond Road

At 4:10 a.m. Dec. 8, police were called to CVS/Pharmacy on a report of a man shoplifting. The suspect was seen walking out of the store’s back door and getting into a car. The man was not apprehended. It was not immediately known what was stolen.

Having a weapon under disability: Richmond Road

At 12:10 a.m. Dec. 8, an officer stopped a car that was not displaying license plates. The car was occupied by two Cleveland men, ages 24 and 21.

A search of the car revealed a loaded handgun. The driver, the gun’s owner, did not have a permit for the weapon. The passenger was released while the driver, the older man, was charged with having a weapon under disability and was cited for the license plate violation.
