NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio -- North Ridgeville residents can now ask the Fire Department for emergency medical ID cards.
The department has teamed up with the city’s Senior Center and University Hospitals to provide the cards.
The cards are filled out by residents and include room for emergency information such as doctor’s name, existing medical conditions, medications, allergies and other medical information useful in an emergency.
The cards slide into a magnetic sleeve to place on the refrigerator. When paramedics respond to a call from the home, they will know to look at the refrigerator for emergency medical information.
There is no charge for the cards. They can be picked up at City Hall and at both fire stations.
For those who cannot leave their homes, contact the North Ridgeville Fire Department at 440-327-5311. They will make arrangements to bring one of the cards to your home.
Helicopters overhead
For the next several weeks, North Ridgeville residents will be hearing helicopters in the sky over the city. Ohio Edison and First Energy have teamed up to utilize the aircraft to inspect and catalog damage from recent storms.
The purpose is to look for any wind damage that may have been sustained during the recent windstorms. The inspector will be focusing on the structural integrity of transmission lines and any severe hardware or component damage.
The helicopters will be flying at speeds of 35 mph, but may also hover or circle to get a better look at any damage that may be found.
For questions about the helicopters, call North Ridgeville City Hall at 440-353-0819.
