The following press release was issued to Atmore News Wednesday, December 9:
Escambia County (Ala.) – The Escambia County Health Care Authority (ECHCA) and Atmore Community Hospital (ACH) announced this week that construction of their new Urgent Care Clinic will begin in the first quarter of 2021. The new Urgent Care Clinic is planned to open in the 4th quarter of 2021 and will be conveniently located on Alabama Highway 21 near Interstate 65, directly across from Wind Creek Casino and Hotel.
According to officials the new Urgent Care Clinic will offer
- Increased access to care for all the citizens of Atmore and surrounding communities
- Modern facility and equipment
- Enhanced wellness programs and employee health programs
- Easy and safe access to the healthcare you need
“We have spent a great deal of time researching the most successful urgent care and healthcare models across the country, working with our community leaders and developing a plan of action to build the clinic,” stated Debbie Rowell, ECHCA Board Chairwoman.
Benefits to the citizens of Atmore and surrounding communities will include - More services provided locally
- Advancing community health through active outreach programs
- Enhanced ability to recruit physicians, nurses and other key team members to the area
The close proximity to the interstate will play a key role in being able to deliver on ECHCA’s mission to serve our community and surrounding areas, allowing for improved access to care and enhanced attraction of specialists to our state-of-the-art health facilities in the future.
Ms. Rowell added – “It is a great joy to be able to announce that we are now to the point that we have a construction start date. Once completed, this component of our plan will increase access to critical and preventive care medicine for our community.”
Many officials commented as to how the new Urgent Care Clinic plan was only made possible through a community collaboration between lead advisor – Health Care Program Advisors; project manager – Johnson Development; architect – Goodwyn | Mills | Cawood, construction lead – Hoar Construction; lending institution – United Bank; and local leaders of the City of Atmore. Without this collective support, the ability to successfully design and develop this modern new facility would not have been possible.
“Everyone has worked very hard to make this goal a reality,” stated Chris Griffin, ECHCA CEO. “We have worked with officials in all segments of our community to ensure the continuum of care will be not only be enhanced for future generations, but that we would build a cohesive structure together that benefits everyone.”
Care at the new Urgent Care Clinic will be delivered by an accomplished team of healthcare professionals, and will feature a lab, x-ray equipment, a pharmacy, and wellness care. The Urgent Care Clinic will work in coordination with Atmore Community Hospital as its parent organization and will be symbiotic with the other ACH physician clinics.
“Patients will have the opportunity to determine which course of care is best for them and then we will deliver on providing that care to the best of our ability,” stated Sharon Davidson, ECHCA Board Vice-Chair. “Our communities deserve the ability to have all options of care available.”
