City/County Emergency Orders

Pursuant to the Governor's Executive Order 21-102, issued on May 3, 2021, the provisions of the Broward County Comprehensive Emergency Order are suspended until further notice. While it is no longer a requirement, all persons are encouraged to continue to wear facial coverings and practice social distancing. Private businesses may impose their own requirements. 

2020

  • March 18. The City of Sunrise issued Ordinance 654, declaring a State of Local Emergency and and empowering the City Manager to issue Declarations of Emergency Regulations.  
  • March 18. The City of Sunrise issued a Declaration of Emergency Regulations, restricting the operations of certain businesses in Sunrise for the purpose of protecting the public health.
  • March 22. The City of Sunrise issued Declaration of Emergency Regulations 20-02 to align with Broward County's March 22nd action - superseding the City of Sunrise’s Declarations of Emergency Regulations issued on March 18.
  • March 24. The City of Sunrise issued Declaration of Emergency Regulations 20-03, clarifying essential and non-essential businesses, and automatically adopting stricter regulations issued by Broward County.
  • March 25. The City of Sunrise issued an extension of its Declaration of State of Local Emergency.
  • March 27. The City of Sunrise issued its Declaration of Emergency Regulations 20-04 : Safer at Home Order, which is stricter than the County's policy.
  • April 1. The City of Sunrise issued an extension of its Declaration of State of Local Emergency.
  • April 8. The City of Sunrise issued Declaration of Emergency Regulations 20-05, strongly urging the use of cloth facial coverings while in public.
