Philadelphia Phillies minor-leaguer Daniel Brito had a second surgery on Sunday morning, assistant general manager Bryan Minniti told The Athletic, following what the team called "a medical emergency" on Saturday night during Triple-A Lehigh Valley's game in Rochester, N.Y.

Brito, a 23-year-old infielder, first had surgery Saturday night after collapsing in the first inning of the game and being taken to a nearby hospital. The game was suspended and Sunday's game was postponed.

“He needs a lot of prayers,” Phillies manager Joe Girardi said Sunday morning before the Phillies played the Pirates. “It’s scary. It just shows you how precious everything is.”

“This is a special kid,” Minniti said. “A lot of people are worried.”

Brito, who is from Venezuela, has been in the Phillies' system since 2015.
