Spike in COVID prompts emergency health-board meeting - The Inquirer and Mirror

(Aug. 5, 2021) The recent news stemming from a coronavirus outbreak in Provincetown created public- health ripples and fears of a potential return to social distancing, only a few months after Gov. Charlie Baker removed COVID-19 restrictions.

Those ripples reached the island this week, as wastewater samples collected Monday predicted a spike of 40 cases a day in the coming week. There have been 43 confirmed cases over the past two days.

Roberto Santamaria, the town’s health director, said he will recommend to an emergency meeting of the Board of Health today that it issue a mask mandate and implement occupancy limits for bars and restaurants, perhaps to 75 percent capacity.
