RED BANK, NJ: In recent months, it’s possible that safety concerns prevented you or your family from seeking necessary emergency treatment. However, it’s important to remember that staying healthy is part of staying safe.

Hackensack Meridian Health Riverview Medical Center is taking measures to ensure that our emergency room remains the safest place to be in an emergency. We have enforced strict sanitizing, masking and social distancing protocols to ensure the safety of our patients, physicians and team members.

“Extra precautions have been established to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 and create the safest experience possible for all,” says Kristy L. Ziontz, D.O., Chair, Department of Emergency Medicine at Riverview Medical Center. “It is critical that those experiencing severe symptoms do not wait to take action. Every minute matters.”

HOW TO STAY SAFE WHEN VISITING AN EMERGENCY ROOM

It’s important to protect yourself and others when you come into the emergency department. When seeking emergency care, it is important to:

  • Keep your hands clean by washing your hands often
  • Wash hands both before and after touching nose, face and eyes, although avoiding touching them at all is best
  • Socially distance yourself from others

  • WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A VISIT TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT

Safety protocols are in place to ensure the health and well-being of patients and staff, as well as throughout all Hackensack Meridian Health facilities. Here is what we’ve instituted to keep you safe:

  • TEMPERATURE SCREENING

Temperatures are taken daily of team members, physicians, patients and approved visitors prior to entering facilities.

  • UNIVERSAL MASKING

All patients, employees and approved visitors are required to wear a face mask when entering the hospitals. A new one will be provided upon entering.

  • SOCIAL DISTANCING

Waiting rooms are marked with signage indicating appropriate spacing between visitors.

  • CLEANING PROTOCOLS

Rigorous cleaning and disinfecting of waiting rooms and patient areas occurs multiple times each day, concentrating on frequently touched surfaces, equipment and exam rooms.

  • SANITIZING STATIONS
Additional hand sanitizing stations have been added to areas throughout the hospital for your convenience.

While things may be different at our hospitals, you can still expect the same great care while keeping everyone safe.
