A new report outlines updates that are needed in emergency services in Wayne County.

A county-funded study conducted by Fitch and Associates said average emergency response times to ambulance calls remain at 1999 levels, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

The report called response and arrival times unacceptable.

“What we want to do next is get together an advisory group to look at the conclusions (of the report) and see what recommendations might be viable,” Jim Lee, the county’s emergency medical services director said. “We need to look long and hard at the options.”

An advisory group is expected to be formed in the coming weeks. Average arrival time to calls by ambulance staff is approximately 21 minutes, according to the report.

Increasing available services is viewed as one of the viable options to correct the issue.
